Charles Rathmann is a guitarist of 20 years, and co-author of the instructional manual ROCKIN' JIMMY'S DAILY GUITAR WORKOUT. The book was penned cooperatively with monster jazz great Jim "Rockin' Jimmy" Crimmins (Blues Brothers, Albert King, etc.). Jim has been Charles' biggest influence, and the learning continues as the two work on subsequent book projects. "True musicians always have a teacher," Rathmann said. "There is a continuing interest in growing and getting closer to your true musical self -- towards effortless expression." Rathmann plays with a loose affiliation of musicians billed as The Progressive Blues Project, but is spending more and more time working in his home studio, where elements of blues, latin music and jazz can be sythesized into something very new. "Carlos (Santana) has been mixing these elements for years -- decades -- but there is plenty of room there for more ideas and expression."
